Shiny Hair Secrets

Shiny hair is captivating because it makes people want to touch it. How do you get your hair to shine for the world to see?

Hair is shine comes from the reflection of light off of the hair's cuticle. Smoothing this cuticle is done in a variety of ways for beautiful shine. Check out these tips!

Improve the condition of your hair.
If your hair is damaged, it will appear dull and feel brittle. If your hair is damaged, improving its condition is the only way to get it to shine.

Use conditioning treatment.
Invest in a high-quality conditioning treatment to repair damaged hair and obtain the shine you crave. Use this deep conditioner once per week.

Wash your hair less often.
Washing your hair too much robs your hair of its natural oils needed to make it shine.

Use an occasional clarifying treatment.
Product build-up on the hair can cause it to appear dull. Use a clarifying shampoo to remove build-up once per month.

Blast wet hair with cold water.
Get the ultimate shine by blasting your hair with cold water just after washing and conditioning it. This process helps seal the conditioner and the cuticle.

Blow dry hair with natural bristle brush.
The natural bristle round brush helps smooth out the hair cuticle and tame static. Blow dry 2 inch pieces of hair wrapped around the round brush to get curly hair straight. Point the hair dryer straight down the hair shaft for best results. After drying each section, blast it with cold air to seal the cuticle.

Use blow dryers and straightening irons.
While these tools ultimately damage your hair, using them correctly will give you the temporary appearance of shine which may be a worthy price to pay. Use the heat from these tools to smooth out the cuticle of your hair. Put the blow-dryer on high and use the straightening iron on the ends.

Use finishing product.
Use finishing products on your hair such as a frizz-taming hair serum or finishing shine spray. Don't apply these products to your roots or your hair will look oily. Also, don't apply a ton of oil before using the straightening iron, because this can actually cook the hair.

Try natural remedies.
Here are a few natural remedies I found on the beauty.iloveindia blog.

- Use Strawberry hair mask: mash eight strawberries with one-tablespoon mayonnaise. Massage this into washed but damp hair. Cover it with a shower cap and then a warm towel. Wash out with a shampoo and then condition. This mask will give your hair a rich gloss.

- For blonde hair use a few tablespoons of lemon juice to your rinse water. This will make your hair shiny.

- For brown and red hair add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your rinse water.

- For shiny hair you can also mix one teaspoon of honey into 4 cups of warm water. After shampooing, pour the mixture through your hair, but do not rinse. Dry as normal.

- 1 egg, 1 tsp honey, 2 tbsp olive oil - Beat the egg into the honey then beat in the oil. Shampoo hair, rinse, then apply mixture to hair and scalp. Massage for 5 minutes, then rinse well.
